The NWK agricultural development initiative was initiated in 2003 with the mandate to commercialise developing farmers.
A second initiative â to establish and commercialise entrant young farmers â started in 2015. These two programmes support participating producers with various aspects of their agricultural business, such as
resource utilisation, crop planning, production finance, technical advice, grain marketing, business plans and future planning.
Young farmers programme
The young farmer project aids producers applying existing resources and knowledge to establish themselves as fully-fledged commercial producers. This life-altering project was first launched in 2015 and has produced great results boasting a success rate exceeding 98%.
AgTech@NWK supports these farmers throughout the season with regular visits and sound advice from experienced agricultural specialists.
Developing farmers programme
The developing farmersâ project supports and positions producers from historically disadvantaged groups to join commercial agriculture through a programme of production finance, technical support, and access to grain markets.
